After Completion of
Endodontic Treatment

Your tooth and surrounding gingiva may be tender for a few days following treatment. This tenderness can be caused by the local anesthesia, the root canal procedure or the prior infection of the surrounding bone and gum tissue. Do not chew food on the affected side until your endodontic therapy is completed and your tooth is covered with a protective restoration provided by your general dentist.

Please contact your referring dental office to schedule an appointment to permanently restore the tooth. You may continue brushing and flossing the area.

Discomfort may be alleviated by taking ibuprofen, aspirin, or acetaminophen as directed. Narcotic pain relievers and antibiotics may be prescribed as needed.

Please contact our office if you experience discomfort that cannot be controlled by pain medications or if swelling develops.
